Here are some fun drawing prompts. All you need is a pencil and a piece of paper.
Some are a little bit silly! 1. Draw a shark water skiing or a chicken skydiving. 2. Draw yourself as a superhero. 3. Draw you teacher or art teacher as an animal. 4. Draw a crayon or art tool as a person. 5. Draw a dinosaur crying. 6. Draw an animal with arms for legs and legs for arms. 7. Draw a llama skating on ice. 8. Draw a monster that is funny. 9. Draw an alien just arriving at your schools. 10 If you could go anywhere in the world with no money restraints, where would you go? What would you do there? Draw yourself in that new place.

6. All About Me Collage- Do you have magazines at home? Use them to create a collage or collection of pictures that show who you are, what you like, and your goals and dreams. 7. Fall Leaf project- Draw or trace leaves on a white piece of paper. Using crayons, color each leaf on color each. You can use red, yellow, orange, or green. Be sure to color the leaf fully so you create a wax resist painting. When completely colored, paint the background with watercolors. 8. Starting in January, we'll be working on a hands of friendship and unity project. We will also be working on overlapping objects. Trace your own hands 2-3 times. Try to overlap a few fingers and erase lines you covered. When finished, color them using skin tone colored pencils or crayons. Choose one color for the background. Here is a great example! Have fun!
5. Positive and Negative space- Here is a video to help you better understand this project. Feel free to use any two colors of papers. Here is a video to help get you started. 7. Aspen trees- Using 1/2 inch masking tape, place strips of tape vertical to show trees in the foreground. Using 1/4 in tape, place strips in the background, not touching the bottom of the page. Paint the entire page to represent fall colors or spring and summer colors. When the painting has dried, remove the tape, Using a marker, draw texture lines on the trunk of all trees. 8. U.S. Government- We're learning about the branches of the government now. Draw a picture representing the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial branches. Here are some examples from my awesome 5th grade artists. 9. What are your favorite parts of Utah? My 4th graders are learning about Utah this year. They drew symbols of our state and colored them with crayon. We then painted the background to create a watercolor resist art piece. They are beautiful!
